With all the latest from fantasy, horror, and science fiction film, the Madrid International Fantasy Film Festival is celebrating its fifth edition with an intense programme featuring the best of this genre and a selection of exceptional guests.
The Festival includes four competitions sections: Nocturna Official Fantasy, the festival's official section, which encompasses all strands of the genre, from science fiction to horror, thriller, animation, etc.; Nocturna Dark Visions, dedicated to the most innovative and transgressive proposals of the fantasy genre; Nocturna Madness, with films that stand out in terms of the violence portrayed and their dark humour, turning the movie theatre into a real party area; and, Shots, a competition section for short films.
There are also other sections outside the competition, showing a wide range of films as part of a varied line-up.
This past edition, the Festival paid special tribute to one of the best-ever horror films, An American Werewolf in London, which won the inaugural Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Makeup. Director John Landis won the Master of Fantasy Film Award and held a meeting with journalists and the public during the event.
The late Vincent Price was also honoured in the past edition of the Festival.
