Teatro de la Zarzuela and Juan March Foundation are co-producers of Mozart and Salieri, a one-act opera for audiences of all ages based on Pushkin’s verse drama focusing on the rivalry between two of the most famous composers of all time.
The story covers the rumour that Salieri poisoned Mozart out of envy for his musical talent. Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov composed the music, incorporating fragments of Mozart’s Requiem y Don Giovanni into the score.
With Rita Cosentino as stage director and Borja Mariño as conductor, and featuring tenor Pablo García López and bass Ivo Stánchev, the production will include three performances for schoolchildren.
