Ignacio García will revisit the opera composed by Emilio Arrieta in 1855, Marina, which tells a love story set on the seashore.
Marina, a girl who’s lost her parents, is waiting at the port of Lloret del Mar for Captain Jorge, whom she’s in love with. He’s decided to propose upon arrival, but the rude sailor Pascual has come to her earlier. Marina tells Pascual he should ask Jorge, who’s like a brother to her, for her hand in marriage, but what she really hopes for is that Jorge will voice his feelings for her. However, instead of saying that he loves her, Jorge gets depressed and Pascual gets his blessing to marry Marina.
A tale of loneliness and misunderstanding at the seashore, performed by the Teatro de la Zarzuela resident choir and the Community of Madrid Orchestra conducted by Ramón Tebar.
