The Villa de Madrid Country Club is hosting the 107th Madrid International Show Jumping Competition, which for the fifth year running will be part of the Longines Global Champions Tour, the most prestigious riding circuit in the world with the highest prize money on offer.
The Longines GCT is made up of several top international show jumping competitions, hosted by emblematic cities such as Mexico, Shanghai, Paris, Rome, and Vienna. Last year, the competition began in Miami and finished in Doha, Qatar.
Last year, the show jumping competition went on for four days (one more than in the previous years), comprising 16 jumping events that involved 120 riders from 21 different countries. Among the riders are the top 30 in the world ranking. Over 200 horses and prize money of over 500,000 euros make this one of the most exciting competitions in international horse riding.
Just like every year, the two most important trials will be the Longines Global Champions Tour-Gran Premio Caixa Bank held on 21 May, and the Copa de S.M. El Rey – Trofeo El Corte Inglés on 22 May, which will provide the finishing touch to a weekend that promises to be spectacular.
During the competition, visitors can enjoy the Shopping Village, with stands selling clothing, accessories, food, hospitality..., and this year there will also be a “Horseshoe Market”, with contemporary marquees and a wide variety of pop-up shops and stalls.
All combined with a wide range of food and drink, bars, restaurants, and a buffet marquee, making Spain's most important riding competition a premium social event as well. Furthermore, the Club School will be organising activities for children to have fun and find out more about the world of horses.
Access is free to all members of the Villa de Madrid Country Club.
