Countless lanterns and other lighting devices will be used to light up Madrid Río Park on the evening of 21 December, in celebration of the winter solstice. It’s one of the new activities in the Christmas Programme 2016-2017.
The parade will begin at 7pm and will go around Puente del Rey. People are invited to join in by designing their own lanterns following the instructions published on the Christmas website.
The Madrid Río light parade is supported by several social and cultural organisations from Madrid. Some of them are even organising lantern design workshops.
The light parade will come to a close with a firework show whose colours will recreate the transition from autumn to winter.
