The Teatro Real opera house Teatros del Canal are staging the Spanish premiere of Le malentendu, a chamber opera based on the play by Albert Camus (Dréan, Algeria, 1913-Villeblevin, France, 1960).
Jan returns to the house he left 20 years ago. Having worked hard, he’s successful and rich. And he’s happily married to Maria. His Mother and his sister Martha run a guest house.
Jan intends to observe his family from the outside and find what they really need to make them happy. Maria reluctantly agrees to leave him there for one night. What Jan doesn’t know is that Martha and his Mother murder rich solitary travellers…
The opera was created at the Centre National de Création Musicale (CIRM, Nice) for four singers, an actor, a chamber orchestra and electronic music.
