The Brazilian artist, Tamar Guimarães (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 1967) presents a work specifically designed for the Fisuras programme at the Reina Sofía Museum. On this occasion, the artist will show a video that will repeat her usual theme on how the different social relations are shown in diverse cultural products, such as architecture, religious literature or dance.
Guimarães’ work is usually developed in the field of installation, film and sound. Her work focuses on historical research, often incorporating materials found, such as photographs, texts, documents and all types of objects. The final product of all these elements gives rise to narratives of a hybrid nature between documentary, essay and fiction.
The Fisuras programme is a Reina Sofía Museum platform that offers the museum’s space to artists for them to produce new work.
