Fleshgod Apocalypse is considered one of the best death metal bands in Italy. Since they got together in 2007, they have focused on innovating in this musical style, with musical results ranging from morbo to gore.
The Italian band has clearly been influenced by other groups in this genre, such as Morbid Angel, Deicide and Cannibal Corpse, as well as classical composers such as Beethoven and Haydn.
Their powerful songs, such as Gravity, which begins with an exceptional riff, or In Aeternum which features orchestral motifs, have taken them to the very pinnacle of death metal.
King is the fourth album to date by Fleshgod Apocalypse, which they consider to be their best record so far. The Italian group believes they have finally found the perfect balance between classical music and metal, as reflected in the tracks The Fool and Cold as Perfection.
King tells the story of an old world heading for disaster. The king, shown on the album cover, is just a character who represents the entire history of justice, ending in corruption and indolence. The album, which features twelve powerful tracks with clear messages, is produced by Kick Recording Studios and 16th Cellar Studios, and it is possibly the group's most energetic record.
