Madrid is hosting Spain's second edition of Halal Expo at the IFEMA centre, bringing together leading stakeholders in the global Halal industry, companies offering food, tourism, cosmetics, and services, among others. There will also be a series of lectures about the debates raised by the Halal sector.
Spain currently has over 300 Halal certified companies, and as one of the event organisers, Anwar El Mezwaghi, explains, our country "possesses great cultural, social, and economic potential. It also has excellent diplomatic relations with Arabic countries, which choose this country as a preferred destination to develop their business activities".
In recent years, the tourist industry has become very interested in meeting the needs of Muslim visitors, and major Spanish fashion firms and labels recruit purchasing consultants for this target group.
