The German artist is performing one more year at the Lied Cycle, accompanied on the piano by his compatriot Gerold Huber. The two have collaborated together on several award-winning records.
The lyric singer Christian Gerhaher (Straubing, Germany, 1969) is once again performing at this festival, following the success of his previous performances, which delighted audiences and the music press, having first performed in the 2003-04 season.
Gerhaher has, over the past decade, become a leading expert in Lied performance, as shown not only by his performances at the world's greatest theatres and auditoria, but also the various recordings he has made, which have been awarded various prizes: for his recording of Melancholie by Schumann he received the BBC Music Award, and he also received the Echo Klassik award for Singer of the Year, and the MIDEM Classical Award for this same category.
