Carmen de Bizet is the name of the brand new production soon to be premiered by the dance company Ballet Flamenco de Madrid. 20 artists on the stage and live music are at the heart of this choreographic interpretation.
Set in Seville in 1830, the story presents Carmen, a free and sensual gypsy who works in the cigar factory who steals the heart of the inexperienced corporal, Don José. The love he feels for the beautiful woman makes the soldier reject his previous partner, he rises up against his superior and deserts his army life. However, these sacrifices are in vain when Carmen decides to give her affection to the bullfighter, Escamillo. This sends Don José into a spiral of pain, hatred and jealousy.
The dance company Ballet Flamenco de Madrid emerged from the need to break away from the cliché that Spanish dance only includes flamenco. A different proposal that seeks to transmit the purest emotions and feelings through the art of dance. Rhythm, magic, aesthetics, and harmony are united through the dance and music of this company, which works with the contemporary tastes of audiences from all around the world.
