One of the most acclaimed gospel choirs in the world will be taking part in the XXII Madrid Gospel Greats Festival held in December. The choir will be paying tribute to the soul, R&B and gospel singer, Aretha Franklin.
The Black Heritage Choir comprises 16 artists chosen from over 400 voices from the state of Mississippi. They have performed at the most prestigious venues around the world, and on this European tour they will be delighting audiences with their tribute to the Queen of Soul.
This choir, of Afro-American provenance, is led by their conductor Jerry Calvin Smith. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, he teaches music theory at the city's university, and is involved with other prestigious choral ensembles, such as the Mississippi Mass Choir.
Aretha Franklin is considered to be one of the artists responsible for gospelising pop, as well as for releasing the biggest-selling gospel record of all time: Amazing Grace. The beauty and feeling of this spiritual music is coming once again to Spain to touch on the emotions of the audience.
