The Teatro de La Abadía brings the Best of BE Festival to Madrid, a selection of the best three performances from the famous Birmingham European Festival, where the most avant-garde multi-disciplinary productions from the Old Continent are offered.
Following the same format as the English event, the best three performances of the year can be enjoyed on the same evening. Each performance lasts half an hour. Between each performance, there is an interval to have a snack and at the end of the evening, there is a final encounter between the public and the theatre companies.
This year at La Abadía we will be able to enjoy three short works, one from Germany and two from Italy: a dissertation on the origin of the Nazi salute and the difficulties it entails; a show packed with humour about continuous interruptions, the Beckettian mechanism of failure and how to “fail better”; and a choreographed piece in honour of an elderly Nobel-prize-winning neurologist.
