Every year, ARCOmadrid, the International Modern Art Fair, demonstrates its impetus and audacity when it comes to tracking the latest war cries in contemporary art. One of the most important events in the world with the most innovative creators and eminent specialists from this sector.
The previous edition marked its 35th anniversary, which the event celebrated with the Year 35. Madrid project, spreading art throughout the entire city with exhibitions in public institutions and museums.
ARCOmadrid closed its 2016 edition with good sales recorded for Latin American art, with Danh Vo, Cabrita Reis, Carlos Garaicoa and Tacita Dean among the most sought-after artists, improving on the results from previous years, increasing its international reputation as a market platform.
The Fair featured 169 galleries in its General Programme, in addition to 19 in the Opening Section, and 18 in Solo Projects. These included galleries that were returning to participate in the Fair, such as Thaddaeus Ropac; Giorgio Persano; Marilia Razuk; Nathalie Obadia, and the classic 1900-2000, Alfonso Artiaco and Denise René galleries. Those participating for the first time included galleries from the Middle East/Menasa such as Isabelle Van Den Eynde and Selma Feriani.
At the 2017 edition, Argentina will be the guest country. A decision sparked by the immense quality of the Argentine artists who year after year take part in this annual event.
