Teatro Lara - Sala Lola Membrives

The Sala Lola Membrives in the Teatro Lara offers Madrid’s alternative scene an open and dynamic space for less conventional and more innovative theatrical performances.

It is a small circular room that can seat up to 120 people, decorated in shades of green with decorative elements and columns. The hall is named after the famous Argentine actress Lola Membrives, a theatrical icon for decades.

Built in 1879 and opened on 3 September 1880 by Cándido Lara, its founder and from whom it got its name, this theatre, which stands out for its beautiful architecture, is a plural space  which can offer all types of theatre performances, ranging from musicals to children’s theatre, as well as concerts. In 1994, it was reopened and its programme has been revamped since 2008, offering quality commercial performances.

The main auditorium in the Teatro Lara is called the Sala Cándido Lara, with a seating capacity of 464, in tribute to Don Cándido Lara, founder of the theatre.
