At this exhibition hall, there is a programme that emphasises current creation in plastic and visual arts, within an international sphere. Visitors can enjoy works by young artists and acclaimed authors, with interest being placed on the language diversity that characterises contemporary creation.
Alcalá 31 Exhibition Hall is located in an emblematic building by Antonio Palacios, constructed between 1935 and 1943, a very prolonged period due to the Spanish Civil War.
It began life as the headquarters of Banco Mercantil e Industrial bank and since its renovation in 2002, it has been home to the exhibition hall belonging to the Regional Ministry of Employment and cultural administrative offices of the Autonomous Community of Madrid. The exhibition hall, under its immense cobbled vault, occupies the large central until, which was the main hall of the bank, in its day.
