Created in June 1980, this museum houses an important collection of instruments and equipment, originating from different educational and research centres, testament to the evolution of science and technology, especially in Spain.
The museum was closed in March 2014 in the old Delicias location to reopen, in autumn, in its new location in the town of Alcobendas. In the collection, it highlights the collection of instruments from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, ceded by educational institutions such as the Instituto San Isidro and the Instituto Cardenal Cisneros. These collections, which the museum values and conserves with the scientific and academic rigour that corresponds to this significant heritage, are directly linked with and a continuation of their academic work.
The collections of scientific instruments later periods came from other educational institutions such as the Facultad de Ciencias Físicas de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid and other centers such as the Instituto Geográfico Nacional. It is by uniting these industrial collections that the museum has been completed, allowing knowledge and documentation of the evolution of technology, industry and engineering.
