Located between the Prado Museum and the Botanical Gardens, the four fountains of the Prado (Las Fuentecillas) were part of the major renovation scheme for the Salón del Prado.
Designed by Ventura Rodríguez in 1781, each of the four fountains features a triton holding a dolphin, the only differences being the position of the figures. The fountains have played a significant role in the city’s life, as such popular festivities as Carnival, San Pedro and the eve of San Juan are celebrated in the vicinity.
