José Cobo opened his gallery in Seville in 1984 when he began his collaboration with a combination of Andalusian and overseas contemporary artists and attending the key international art fairs of the day right from the outset.
In 1988 he moved La Máquina Española to Madrid, and after returning to Seville a few times, he re-established his gallery in Madrid in 2005, now under the name of Pepe Cobo, although continuing with the work he had started with La Máquina Española. He worked with Spanish and international artists from vanguard tendencies in contemporary art with shows at his new and current venue in Madrid and attending modern art fairs all over the world such as Art Basel, Art Basel Miami, Frieze, The Armory Show and ARCO.
