This art centre, which opened in 2008, is located in the heart of Móstoles and houses the contemporary art collection that belongs to the Regional Government of Madrid, with over 1500 pieces from different disciplines. Its programme is divided into four sections: exhibition of museum collections, collective exhibitions, individual exhibitions, and other activities such as conferences, film showings and debates.
CA2M is a new building that stands on an old traditional construction, la Casona. With a total surface area of 5,886 square metres, the centre includes exhibition spaces, divided over three floors, an auditorium for one hundred people, a cafeteria, a library and a terrace, suitable for many outdoor activities. It also has administration and research areas, as well as storerooms equipped to store the Collection’s works.
The basic architectural project was designed by Celia Vinuesa and it was executed by Pablo Pérez-Urruti. Since 2016, a series of architectural acupuncture interventions have been carried out by the Andrés Jaque Studio, Office for Political Innovation, making it unique.
