Casa de Vacas, in the Retiro neighbourhood, is currently a cultural centre with exhibitions, theatre and concerts. It was constructed in 1874 as a cowshed and dairy, and is still known by that name.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it was a dance hall known as Pavillón, one of the mythical places of Madrid nightlife until it was transformed into the cultural centre it is today, after it was completely devoured by fire.
