Manuel de Diego opened the doors of his shop and workshop in 1800, selling fans, umbrellas, sunshades, parasols and walking sticks. After occupying a number of different premises, he moved to number 12 in Puerta del Sol.
Later on, and on account of the huge demand, he expanded his property with a new factory and shop on the bustling street of Mesonero Romanos. From that moment onwards, he made everything by hand, taking special care to make top quality exclusive items. Up to the present day, the business has been run by the founder’s successors. Their experience in this field has led them to work for royal families all over the world, including in Spain. Mr. Arturo Herandi de Diego designed the fan that HRH Letizia Ortiz, Princess of Asturias, carried at her Royal Wedding.
