First of all, a journey through history. The building in which this excellent restaurant awarded with two Michelin stars is located, is a monument in itself: the Casino de Madrid, a 1910 building designed by José López Sallabery, just a stone’s throw from Puerta del Sol. Its rooftop is home to the space masterly led by Paco Roncero, an indisputable reference in today’s gastronomic scene.
The first thing that grabs your attention is the decor, which has nothing to do with the classic air that predominates in the rest of the building. Interior designer, Jaime Hayón, has perfectly interpreted the avant-garde of Roncero’s dishes with a happy and modern decoration brimming with light. Although you can dine á la carte, it is recommendable to opt for the Tasting Menu, with its famous tapiplatos which are a constant surprise. The wine list, selected by sommelier María José Huertas, is the perfect complement to the ever revolutionary creations by the chef from Madrid, who is also at the helm of the gastrobar, Estado Puro, in Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo.
In addition to the excellent cuisine, the Casino restaurant has another attraction, as its name suggests. The Terraza, which is only open in the summer, is one of those magical places in the heart of Madrid. Its views are spectacular, as is the atmosphere that envelopes any dinner.
