La Canela is a simple and informal restaurant. However, they don't get stuck in traditional food and offer creative and sofisticated products with carefully prepared and presented dishes. Apart from traditional tapas and raciones like rabo de toro or home made croquetas, they recommend original dishes such as cod in tempura with green tomato marmelade and sirloin with confit onion and sweet mustard. Tostas (toasted bread with something on it) are prepared with a bread called payés cut in big slices, so they can be shared. Some of their best tostas are the one with foie on onion confit and the one with smoked food and green vinaigrette. They have a short but select wine list. Young and kind staff. La Canela is placed near the Centro Cultural Conde Duque, which makes it a perfect place to go for tapas before or after some of the shows and exhibitions taking place in the cultural center.
