The specialty of this brewery is fried fish and, although chopitos and pickled fish are very popular, calamari, either in tapa or sandwich form, is the star dish of this eatery.
Cervecería Sol Mayor is located on Calle Postas, just a stone’s throw from Plaza Mayor. As it’s a tapas bar, there are few tables, the space being given over to a sizeable counter where customers can rest their drinks and tapas and enjoy them standing up. The house specialty is its fried fish. Although the chopitos (fried baby squid) and marinated fish are highly popular, it’s the calamari, whether in a sandwich or served as a ración (shared dish), which is the star attraction. The bar has a typical, Spanish-style décor: large photos of the dishes and their prices on the walls and above the counter are the main adornments of Cervecería Sol Mayor.
