TOURISM CITY OF MADRID

The Madrid Council's Department for Economy and Employment promotes and energises the tourist sector -one of the City of Madrid's main economic engines- through the Empresa Municipal Promoción de Madrid and the Tourist Board.

Empresa Municipal Promoción de Madrid

Promoción Madrid handles the tourism promotion strategy, both on a national and international level, for the City of Madrid, and also designs and produces advertising campaigns and promotional material.

As the city marketing company, Promoción Madrid also manages the communication channels that the Madrid Council has designed for citizens and visitors in the city, with a view to disseminating the image of Madrid and providing information on how to get the most out of the capital.

This major multimedia group -including the portal esMADRID (www.esmadrid.com), the social website esMADRID4u, the digibox  channel esMADRIDtv, the free monthly publication esMADRIDmagazine, the platform esMADRIDmóvil and the record label esMADRIDmusic- provides information on the tourist, cultural, leisure and business offer in the city.

Promoción Madrid also supports, and is collaborating directly with, Madrid 2016 and handles the promotion of business tourism through the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB). The organism, created in 1984 by the municipal consistory with the collaboration of public and private companies from the sector, aims to promote Madrid as a city that can host national and international meetings, attract this type of events and stage them successfully.

Patronato de Turismo (Tourist Board)

Patronato de Turismo (www.esmadrid.com/patronato), on the other hand, focuses on visitors' satisfaction and loyalty. Among other issues, it manages tourist information services -such as guided tours-, provides support for visitors in the city, participates in the creation and improvement of tourist products, establishes links with professional associations from the sector and works with other public administrations to promote the capital as a tourist destination.
