The contemporary architecture of Madrid shines amongst the brightest in cosmopolitan cities today. Some of the most famous architects in the world are currently involved in the design of stunning buildings in Madrid, soon to become icons.

Jean Nouvel and Rafael Moneo are responsible for the addition to the Reina Sofia Museum and the Prado Museum respectively; Norman Foster is responsible for the new Caja Madrid Tower; Álvaro Siza is responsible for the Centre for Tourist Information in Plaza de Colon and the refurbishment of the Prado-Recoletos areas; the Herzog & Meuron studio is responsible for the Caixaforum project and Santiago Calatrava is responsible for the Obelisk to be built in Plaza de Castilla - these are just some of the newest buildings. A champion of the quality of Madrid's architecture, author of one of the new icons of the city, the Sanchinarro Viewpoint, she considers that the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, the Torres Blancas building and the Banco de Bilbao Vizcaya (BBVA) building are the four constructions that best reflect Madrid's spirit.
