2013 SEASON AT LA Zarzuela Racecourse

In 2013 La Zarzuela Racecourse is offering 40 days of racing, 21 of which will be taking place in the spring season, 6 in the summer season and 13 in the autumn. The first day of racing is due to be held on Sunday 24 February, when the biggest races will be the "Hándicap Opcional" and the "Premio Glycerius" (hurdles).

Spend a day watching the races at this stunning venue next to the Monte de El Pardo forest. It is the perfect place to enjoy good food and a form of leisure which has been popular in Spain for many years. Situated in one of the most emblematic spots in the capital, the racecourse boasts large outdoor areas and offers entertainment for the whole family (under 14s are allowed in for free). Kids will not only be able to enjoy the beauty of the actual horses, but will also have access to large green areas, bouncy castles, a kiddies' park, ponies, face and body painting services and a dance area, all free of charge.

The 2013 season

The spring and autumn races will be run on the grass course and the summer races on the artificial fibre course. The 2013 campaign is starting a little earlier than usual (on 24 February) and finishing later than other years (on 6 December). In April, May, June, September and October (up to 13 October) races will be held in the afternoon.

In summer (this time in July and the first two Thursdays in August), racing will take place at night, as usual, and during the other months (February, March, second fortnight in October, November and December) races will continue to be held in the morning. La Zarzuela Racecourse will be increasing its race days from 25 to 31 on Sundays; six on Thursday nights and three on public holidays (Wednesday 1 May, Wednesday 15 May and Friday 6 December).
