Andén 0

A trip to the city's industrial past, visiting the enormous, 5,000Kw generators that supplied metro's overhead power cables between 1923 and 1972, and gave power to the population of Madrid during the War.

The old Chamberí station and the old Pacífico motor plant are the two head offices of Andén 0, the Madrid Metro museum.

The uniqueness, testimonial, technological and artistic value, good conservation and social interest of both historic areas led Madrid Town Hall to restore them and open them to the public. It aims to make citizens familiar with their history and regain a piece of collective memory and the spaces that preserve it.

This proposal aims to make citizens aware of their history and regain a part of collective memory and places that preserve it.

Andén0 displays an essential piece of our industrial heritage: the history of Madrid's underground and the importance of transport as a driver for the economy and social change in the city.

It also shows the advances in civil engineering, technological progress, architecture, and the incipient advertising and design industry.
