The old Chamberí station opened to the public in April 2008, having closed in 1966. The restoration means that people can walk through a station as it was during the 50s.
The old Chamberí station and the old Pacífico motor plant are the two head offices of Andén 0, the Madrid Metro museum.
The uniqueness, testimonial, technological and artistic value, good conservation and social interest of both historic areas led Madrid Town Hall to restore them and open them to the public.
The aim is for citizens to get to know their history and regain a part of collective memory and places that preserve it.
Andén0 displays an essential piece of our industrial heritage: the history of Madrid's underground and the importance of transport as a driver for the economy and social change in the city.
It also shows the advances in civil engineering, technological progress, architecture, and the incipient advertising and design industry.
