Anyone who loves culture and art will enjoy calling in at this café after visiting the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Circle)... although you don't need to be a culture fanatic to spend a pleasant afternoon here. The décor is classic with fitting details (lots of gold), traditional tables and chairs, some comfortable armchairs, high ceilings, large lamps, vast windows... The establishment is reminiscent of a large fish tank, hence the fact that regular customers have nicknamed it La Pecera (the Fish Tank, in Spanish). A large, calm, pleasant place where time seems to stand still and the hustle and bustle of the city remains be 'muffled' behind the large windows…
Customers can have breakfast, tea or even a light meal at lunch time. During the summer season the café sets tables and chairs out on Calle Alcalá: pure luxury on one of the city's liveliest avenues. More often than not customers will run into members of the cultural, intellectual and art world. The perfect place for a peaceful gathering or for quietly reading a book anytime of the year.
